Convention
Industry Council Manual and Glossary, 7th
Edition
The CIC Manual is a compilation of specific information that
explains how to organize, plan, publicize, manage and budget meetings and
conventions of any size. The concise, broad base of knowledge makes it the
primary reference book of the industry. Written by some of the leading meeting
and convention professionals from associations, corporations and the hospitality
industry, this manual is an important step-by-step guide for anyone involved in
planning, servicing or hosting a meeting. It is also a primary study aid for the
Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) examination.
This edition is reorganized according to the five
study modules and the 27 meeting management functions referenced in the CMP
Examination Blueprint. The 7th Edition format provides user-friendly
features, such as content lists at the beginning of the chapters, extensive
subheadings and bullet lists. These features enable the reader to quickly locate
the information they need. The manual also features technology tips, issues
forums, reproducible checklists and industry resources throughout the chapters.
More than 65 meeting industry volunteers participated in this project by
reviewing, updating and rewriting chapters, and contributing new content.
Corbin wrote "Chapter 9: Computer Applications," rewrote "Chapter 24: Registration" and reviewed other chapters as
well.
